A couple of weeks ago, Banjara, a well-known Indian restaurant at Bloor St. W. and Crawford Ave., closed after a fire broke out.

Last week another restaurant in the same location, this time a sandwich shop and another Indian restaurant in Bloordale Village were destroyed in another fire.

Toronto Fire responded to the scene of Bloor St. near Emerson Ave. just after 6 p.m. to find Brock Sandwich on fire. South Indian Dosa Mahal Restaurant was also affected due to thick smoke from the neighbouring shop.

It took firefighters about two hours to bring the blaze under control.

Units are still investigating the cause of the fire, but many residents are wondering why restaurants in the popular stretch are catching fire. This is a safety concern that has many spooked. No one will blame diners for preferring a table close to the fire exit or the entrance until the matter is sorted out. – CINEWS
