Rio Olympics: Shuttler Srikanth wins first Group match

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 12 (IANS) Indian shuttler Kidambri Srikanth edged past Lino Muzon of Mexico in straight games 21-11, 21-17 in the campaign opening Group H match in the men singles event here.

The Former world No. 3 with his variety of shots and accurate smashes clinched the first game in a convincing 21-11 in just 16 minutes on Thursday evening.

In the second game, the Indian started to loosen up a little and started making unforced errors at the net making the game give a nail biting finish 21-17 in 25 minutes.
