Brisbane, Jan. 15 (ANI): Indian opener Rohit Sharma thumped a second consecutive century against Australia on Friday and helped India to set a 309-run target for the hosts in the second ODI at the Gabba in Brisbane.

India opted to bat first, and Rohit smashed 11 boundaries and three sixes in a brilliant 124-run knock that helped India reach a final score of 308 for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

Vice-captain Virat Kohli scored 59 before being run out, while Ajinkya Rahane fell 11 runs short of a hundred in making 89.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan scored six runs, continuing with his poor form in the series.

For the hosts, James Faulkner grabbed two wickets, while Joel Paris, John Hastings and Scott Boland also chipped in with a wicket each.

India are currently trailing in the five-match ODI series 0-1 following their five-wicket defeat against the hosts in the opening match in Perth. (ANI)
