Romario hopes `corrupt` Blatter gets arrested

Johannesburg, Sept.22 (ANI): Former Brazilian football star Romario has said that FIFA is full of corrupt people, including present president Sepp Blatter, and hopes the latter gets arrested as soon as possible.

Romario criticised Blatter, saying that he is the head of the school of dishonest people, who can easily influence the football world without being necessarily corrupt, Sport24 reported.

The 49-year-old further said that UEFA president Michel Platini, who is running in the race to replace as a next FIFA president, is from the same school as Blatter.

He added that he is not considering Blatter as corrupt, but surely his way of running the management is not positive.

The election for the appointment of new FIFA president will take place on 26 February, with Blatter standing down amidst a corruption crisis engulfing the football’s governing body.

FIFA’s reputation has been severely tarnished after 14 sports marketing executives and football officials, including several from Zurich-based FIFA, were indicted by the United States in late May over corruption charges. (ANI)
