London, Dec.24 (ANI): Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney has admitted that his players are ‘fighting’ hard for manager Louis Van Gaal, adding that they are trying to turn the things around for the club.
United, who are struggling under Van Gaal, have now lost three matches in a row and are currently nine points behind the leaders Leicester City in Premier League standings.
Reflecting on the same, the 30-year-old forward said that his side had been performing below par and believes that it was quite hard for the club to deal with the present situation.
Rooney, however, admitted that there was a lack of confidence in his side , urging them to head into the upcoming matches strongly.
Rooney further called on his side to remain at the top of the game in order to achieve the needed results, the Mirror reported.
Earlier, Van Gaal’s job had come under scrutiny following his side’s 1-2 defeat at home against Norwich City in Premier League. He also appeared to be cracking under the pressure when he walked out of his press conference on Wednesday after just five minutes.
With their first defeat at Old Trafford, United have also slipped out of the top four ahead of their next match against Stoke City on Saturday. (ANI)
