Chitral (Pakistan), Apr. 2(ANI): Russian national Apelgans Viacheslov, seeking a local bride in Pakistan, has been arrested and is being questioned by the intelligence agencies.
28-year-old Viacheslov from Moscow had put up posters in the northern district of Chitral advertising of marrying a local woman and offering one million rupees reward to anybody who could help him find the girl, Dawn quoted District Police Chief Asif Iqbal as saying.
The Russian national had embraced Islam for his dream and adopted a new name Turud Ali.
The poster featured Viacheslov’s picture and the address of the hotel in which he was staying.
Iqbal said that Viacheslov was arrested for failing to register with Chitral Police Station, which the foreigners are required to do for security reasons when visiting the area.
Meanwhile, reports say that a joint investigation team of the police and intelligence agencies has been formed to interrogate Viacheslov.
Chitral is a remote district bordering Afghanistan and is a tourist hotspot famous for its landscape and also home to Pakistan’s smallest religious minority the Kalash people. (ANI)
