Rustom which released on August 12 has become one of the highest-grossing movies of 2016 with a total collection of Rs. 110.77 crore in 11 days and still holding steady.
Despite facing a box office clash with Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro, Rustom has emerged as the clear winner and there has been no stopping this low budget flick. With Rustom, Akshay Kumar has succeeded in breaking his own box office records including Airlift which was released earlier this year.
Akshay Kumar’s fastest movie to reach Rs. 100 crore: Akshay Kumar’s Rustom took just nine days to enter the coveted Rs. 100 crore club since its release at the box office. With Rustom, Akshay has beaten the records of his own film Airlift and Housefull 3, which took 10 and 13 days respectively to reach Rs. 100 crore mark.
Highest grossing movie in a week 2016: Rustom managed to secure the second spot in the list of highest grossing movies in a week after Salman Khan‘s Sultan, followed by Airlift at no. 3 and Housefull 3 at no. 4 and Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan resting at no. 5. After Sultan, Rustom has also become the highest opening weekend grossers of 2016 by collecting Rs. 68.23 crore in just four days of its release. It is then followed by Housefull 3 at no.3, Fan at no. 4 and Airlift at no. 5 in the list.
Highest opener of 2016: Rusto also made it to the list of movies with highest openings at the box office. It collected Rs. 14.11 cr on the first day of its release beating Airlift with Rs. 12.35 crore. Akshay Kumar’s film grabbed the fourth position in the list after Salman Khan’s Sultan at no. 1 with Rs. 36.53 cr, Fan with Rs. 19.20 cr, Housefull 3 with Rs. 15.21 cr.
Still going strong: Rustom has entered its second week and the movie is refusing to slow down at the box office. In the second week, Rustom minted Rs. 4.41 crore on Friday, Rs. 5.77 crore on Saturday and Rs. 6.94 crore on Sunday making a total of Rs. 17.12 crore in the second weekend. The total collection of the film has now taken to Rs. 108.02 crore at the box office continuing its march at the box office. – CINEWS
