Salmania rages in Bollywood; ‘Sultan’ breaks all records

Yash Raj Films’ ‘Sultan’ is setting new benchmarks for Bollywood.

There is no stopping Sultan. With a healthy box office rate being maintained, the film has already grossed Rs.345 crores worldwide, becoming the first Hindi movie to collect so much in the opening weekend.

The Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer has also set the record of having the Highest Advance Booking For Any Movie Ever – Hollywood or Indian.

Yash Raj has also provided a list of all-time milestones for the film: Sultan has the highest advance booking ever, the biggest pre-Eid opening day box office, is the fastest to cross 150 and 175 net crore (five days), boasts the biggest opening in Yash Raj history and is first movie to gross 345 crore worldwide on an opening weekend.

Outside India, Sultan set the biggest opening day and weekend ever for Bollywood in the UAE-GCC and the fastest to $5M (five days). Pakistan likewise saw the biggest opening day and weekend ever and a speed record to $1M (three days). The UK and Ireland had the top opening day and weekend ever, and Australia and New Zealand also set debut weekend records.

Outside India, the UAE and other Gulf countries scored the biggest haul at 25.17 crore ($3.8M). In North America, Sultan set a 2016 record for Bollywood with $2.22M in the 3-day and $3.23M for the 5-day — beating  all Hindi releases this year in its first frame. – CINEWS
