MESA, Ariz-— Arizona photographer Jeff Wolkove is now exhibiting his Salt River Wild Horse collection at two Phoenix area art galleries, Scottsdale’s On The Edge Gallery, and Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery. They are juried fine art galleries, staffed and operated by independent artists.
For Wolkove, a long-time Arizona resident, photography has been a lifelong passion. “My photographs capture a place; a feeling; a moment in time. My work evokes those same feelings and brings the viewer to that place and time.”
Wolkove has been building a photography portfolio on the Salt River Wild Horses that live in and around the Lower Salt River recreation area in the Tonto National Forest near Mesa.
“Wild horses are under pressure throughout the American West. I hope to raise awareness that this cherished part of our heritage should be protected for future generations.” His photographs of the Salt River herd show the horses in their natural environment at the river and in the surrounding desert.
Wolkove’s work also includes wildlife and landscape photography. He draws inspiration from the legendary work of Ansel Adams, whose photography turned heads, changed minds and brought the National Parks into America’s living rooms and Americans’ hearts.
