Revealing the details of his next film director Mahesh Manjrekar says Sanjay Dutt is playing the role of a father in his early 40s in his movie.
The film, which is a remake of 2008 superhit Marathi movie De Dhakka, was annouced on Dutt’s 57th birthday on July 30.
“He will play a Punjabi man but not as a sardar. The film has elements of humour and as all of us know he is very good at comedy,” Manjrekar said.
Dutt and the 63-year-old filmmaker have earlier collaborated on films like Vaastav, Kurukshetra and Rakjt.
The film maker is currently looking for an actress to play Dutt’s wife in the film.
He says he is already made a list of some brilliant actresses he wants to contact and as for the characters of daughter and son, he said he is planning to use new faces.
Being made under the banner of Sandeep Singh and Omung Kumar’s Legend Studios, the film is in the mould of its Marathi version, promising to be a blend of laughter and family emotions.
The film will go on floors December or January and scheduled to be released in July-August next year. – CINEWS
