Sanjeev Kapoor’s launches his “Khazana” restaurant in Brampton

Brampton, November 6 (CINEWS): Well-known Indian chef, Sanjeev Kapoor was in Brampton this Monday for a formal launch of his first restaurant in Canada. “Khazana” which opened earlier this year has created quite a buzz given Kapoor’s celebrity status among Indian foodies. Known initially as the television chef, he is credited with bringing his cooking style into Indian homes as well as putting Indian cuisine on the world map.SanjeevKapoor
Media was treated to a personal demonstration and sampling of his culinary creations which included Paani Puri, tomato soup, Biryani and a Mangalorean fish curry among other creatively-plated appetizers and main dishes.
Located in the heart of Brampton at 9121 Airport Rd, and co-owned by Shailesh Gangwani and Kultaran Mann, “Khazana” aims to offer its guests a luxurious dining experience. It has a huge dining space with 140 covers, a separate 20 cover private dining room and a lounge space with a high-end bar serving varieties of wines, liqueurs and signature cocktails.
Kapoor has written over 200 cookbooks as well as developed a range of food products, restaurants and kitchen appliances.
Often dubbed the Rachel Ray of India, he has featured twice on American TV with her. United Nations chose him as the Indian Ambassador for their Clean Cookstoves Campaign which was aimed at the underprivileged in developing countries.
Sanjeev Kapoor Restaurants (SRK) is a multi-format global chain consisting of 55 restaurants in 9 countries and 39 cities. He hopes that the Brampton restaurant will pave the way for others in North America. “I know it took us many years to come here but then Canada is not close,” joked the celebrity chef.
Khazana will follow the manifesto of the SRK chain which details standard operating procedures right from the materials and ingredients used to the chef’s signature recipes, presentation and the manner in which guests are greeted.
The chef reiterated his motto of delivering “best quality food” and always striving to “making it better” irrespective of whether it was his business or not.
