Sarah Jessica Parker feels fragrance matters a lot

Los Angeles, Oct 24 (IANS) Actress <strong class=’StrictlyAutoTagBold’>Sarah Jessica Parker says she thinks fragrance makes much more of an impression than what you wear.

“It’s immediately communicating more than your clothes, which we think tell our story, right? But clothes don’t invade anybody else’s space,” Parker said.

“You know how you feel when someone hugs you and they are wearing a fragrance you don’t care for and it’s stuck on you and you go to the ladies’ room and you try to really carefully, discreetly wipe it off? Or gentlemen in the old days, who liked really strong cologne?

“It’s unique in that way. Your make-up doesn’t do that. Your bag doesn’t do that, your shoes, or your clothes, but fragrance completely lives in both worlds,” Parker told The Cut magazine, reports

The 50-year-old actress <strong class=’StrictlyAutoTagBold’>released her perfume, Lovely, 10 years ago and recalled the first time she was ever mesmerised by a scent.

“I was like 15, 16 maybe? Up to that point I was wearing probably Love’s Baby Soft, and she (actress Mary McDonnell) would get up and spray Aliage on every day and I was hypnotised. I saved up some of my money and bought Aliage,” she said.

“When I went to do ‘Square Pegs’, I shared a room with my baby brother because he was really tiny. He and I shared this little room in temporary apartments or something.

“One day, he went into my closet and he sprayed all of my Aliage. I was so angry because I had saved up for so long, and he was just like (mimes spraying motion) around the whole closet. I was like, ‘Well, it smells really good in here.'”
