Johannesburg, Jan. 03 (ANI): Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has lavished praise on star player Wayne Rooney after his teammate scored a brilliant instinctive winner to claim a 2-1 win over Swansea City in their Premier League clash.
Schweinsteiger described Rooney’s goal as ‘unbelievable’ and said that although the England international unfortunately couldn’t score during a goalless draw against Chelsea, he would be happy with his performance he had showcased against Swansea, Sport24 reported.
Rooney flicked home Anthony Martial’s cross in the 77th minute to end United’s nine-match winless streak in all competitions.
Rooney, who scored his 238th goal for the Old Trafford club, surpassed Denis Law as the second highest all-time United scorers, which puts him in second place behind Alan Shearer (260). (ANI)
