Security beefed up in Poonch ahead of Republic Day

Poonch, Jan. 24 (ANI): Keeping in view of the Republic Day celebrations, security has been beefed up in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The security forces have been kept on high alert in regard to the celebrations as they continued checking and frisking vehicles.

“Security is very important keeping in view of Republic Day. We are taking help of the SHO and DSP and also from the people to make Republic Day peaceful. Our alertness level is constant. People are constantly cooperating with us. Our officers are on ground. We will face any kind of challenge,” said Senior Superintendent of District Police J.S. Johar.

Earlier, in a massive crackdown on terrorists and terror suspects, 14 ISIS sympathisers have been arrested from six cities for allegedly plotting to launch attacks during Republic Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police has put up posters of ‘wanted terrorists’ across the national capital.

Following the attack on the Pathankot Air Force Base, security has been beefed up in Delhi.

Delhi will remain on high alert till the Republic Day as the Delhi Police has been told to be alert to foil any attempt by terrorists to carry out attacks. (ANI)
