The producers of Kangana Ranaut-starrer blockbuster hit Queen are said to be planning for a sequel.
Phantom Films is reportedly planning a sequel to the 2014 comedy, according to reliable sources.
Director Vikas Bahl has come up with a story idea and at the moment writing the first draft of the script , sources said.
A meeting with Kangana will take place only once the script is finalised.
Queen directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena did a business of over Rs 100 crore and won several awards including the National award. The film had Kangana in the lead role, with Lisa Haydon and Rajkummar Rao playing supporting roles.
Queen premiered at the Busan International Film Festival and released theatrically on 7 March 2014.
The film garnered critical acclaim, with praise directed to the direction, writing, and Ranaut’s performance. It is widely considered by critics to be one of the best films of 2014.
Made on a budget of ₹12.5 crore (US$1.9 million), the film earned over ₹108 crore (US$16 million) at the global box-office, emerging as a commercial success. – CINEWS
