Amritsar, May 31 (IANS) With Pakistan not issuing visas on time, the SGPC has decided not to send its ‘jatha’ (delegation) to the neighbouring country for the martyrdom day anniversary of Sikh Guru Arjan Dev, SGPC officials said said here on Tuesday.
SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said that the Pakistan High Commission had not issued visas to the jatha and hence the visit was cancelled.
The jatha was to leave on May 31.
SGPC officials said that the visas had been sought for the period between May 31 and June 9. They said that there was difference in date of the martyrdom day of the Guru between the SGPC and the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
