Before the last Friday’s release Dear Zindagi arrived in theaters, there was no big buzz for the film despite having star actors like Sharukh Khan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
We find it hard to agree with the press report that the distributors were unwilling to invest money into Dear Zindagi taking into consideration Shah Rukh’s previous disaster ‘Fan.’
The report comes from the south and we have not seen anything like it in Mumbai press. Shah Rukh has always been a bankable star and a flop here and there cannot diminish his hold on the box office.
When referring to dull markets the effects of demonetization may have some truth but the film distribution agreements may have been signed much before that.
The low budget film starring Shah Rukh and Alia Bhatt Rs 35 crore in the first weekend retaining the 12th highest place income-wise.
The film is not a surprise hit. We know beforehand it will be a hit, judging by the cast and the abilities of the director.
Appreciating the massive response from fans, actress Alia Bhatt tweeted. “#DearAudience, thank you for the warmth.”
The film would have done better than this if there were not demonstration effects. Expressing the same sentiments John Abraham said his Force 2 would have done much better if not for the cash crunch. – CINEWS
