The “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” lyricist beforehand worked with Shah Rukh in ‘Chennai Express’ and said it was a wonderful experience writing for him and Kajol, who have a “faction following”.

“Honestly, while we were making the song, we were not consciously wanting it to be a blockbuster. After the song was recorded and shot, we saw an essential harsh cut. Then we understood this is a grand song with awesome science of Shah Rukh-Kajol.”
The song’s tune happened spontaneously and the group was prepared with the first draft of “Gerua” within 45-min-to – 60 minutes. Bhattacharya thought of the title word instantly after music arranger Pritam gave him the tune.
