Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has taken Bollywood ego clashes to a new level.
It was only yesterday we came to know the coproducer decided to leave the project while another one has joined. Eros International and Viacom 18 were supposed to jointly produce the film but the latest reports suggest that Eros International has backed out of the project and thus, Reliance Jio has been approached.
The latest buzz is that Shahid Kapoor has threatened to walk out of the film if Ranveer Singh doesn’t stay in his limits.
Ranveer, after demanding a solo poster, has put forth another condition that the first poster of Padmavati should only feature him and his rumoured girlfriend Deepika Padukone, who will be seen as Padmavati.
This apparently has upset Shahid to such an extent that he has threatened to walk out of the film if Ranveer doesn’t stay in his limits.
Shahid joined the cast after his wife gave birth to a baby girl, on Bansali’s promise that he would be given equal screen timing as Ranveeer. The director was also said to be tweaking the script to accommodate equal screen timings for both the actors.
It now remains to be seen if Bhansali manages to sort out the issues or loses Shahid for Ranveer.
Meanwhile, rumour also has it that Padmavati will not hit theatres in 2017.
Instead it has been pushed for a 2018 release.
Although Padmavati lead actors Deepika, Ranveer and Shahid have allotted a chunk of dates to Bhansali, considering the ace director’s eye for detail, it seems unlikely that the film will be ready by 2017.
If Padmavati hits theatres in 2018, it will clash with Shah Rukh Khan and Aanand L Rai’s untitled next, the release date of which has already been announced as Christmas 2018.
However, the industry source refuted the rumour claiming that Padmavati will release in December 2017.
This will be Deepika and Ranveer’s third film with Bhansali after Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani.
