Sharmistha Mukherjee says Somnath Bharti should surrender

New Delhi, Sept 25 (ANI): Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) leader Sharmistha Mukherjee on Friday said AAP leader Somnath Bharti is trying to avoid the law and should immediately surrender.

“It is absolutely surprising and condemnable the way he is trying to avoid law and the way he is running away from the law. He should immediately surrender and it is no point that he is changing his location and mobile numbers because the police will catchup with him,” Mukherjee said ANI.

Mukherjee said that Bharti is setting extremely bad example.

“He (Bharti) is supposed to be the one who make law or enforce law and the way he is running and think himself to be above the law of the land, it is absolutely not acceptable,” he added.

Delhi Police on Thursday said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Somnath Bharti has in all probability been located and is playing the game of hide and seek by frequently changing his location just like a professional criminal.

Bharti, who is involved in a domestic violence case, has moved the Supreme Court seeking protection from the arrest after the Delhi High Court had rejected his anticipatory bail plea.

According to reports, Bharti has sought a direction that the Delhi Police be restrained from arresting him till his petition challenging the High Court order is decided.

The AAP MLA is facing a non-bailable warrant against him in a domestic violence and attempt to murder case filed by his wife, Lipika Mitra.(ANI)
