New Delhi, Jul 24 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anurag Thakur, who led a protest outside the Parliament today, highlighted the corruption taking place in the Congress-ruled states, and said the government is ready for a discussion on the same with Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi.
Thakur, who is the BJP MP from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, also used the occasion to target the Congress president’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, stating “Ulta chor kotwaal ko daantein, kisaano ki zameen damaad ko baatein.”
“They have given away the lands of the farmers to their son-in-law (Robert Vadra). Sonia ji and Rahul ji have misled the people of this country. Their (Congress) Chief Ministers have stacked away the money of compensation, liquor money..and black money,” Thakur told the media here.
“And now, they are running away from discussion. They don’t have the capability to have a discussion as their allegations are baseless. I would openly challenge Rahulji and Soniaji to come in the Parliament and discuss the issue because we are ready. The Congress does not have any answer,” he added.
Thakur pointed out that the BJP has from the first day of the Monsoon Session expressed its willingness to discuss any issue and said that even External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is keen to answer all the queries of the opposition in wake of the controversy surrounding former IPL chief Lalit Modi.
“The BJP said on the first day of the Monsoon Session that it is ready for discussion, Sushma ji said that she is ready to answer the questions, but I would like ask the Congress party, will they answer for their parliamentarians and Chief Ministers?” Thakur said.
Seeking to provide the opposition a taste of its own medicine, the BJP MPs today staged a protest against Congress Chief Minister Harish Rawat at the Gandhi statue in Parliament.
The protesting MPs were armed with banners stating, “Sonia Rahul Shame-Shame, Scams and Scams in Congress States” and “Debate and Discuss, Don’t Disrupt.” (ANI)
