Sia opens up about past alcohol, drug addiction

London, Feb. 18 (ANI): Singer Sia recently reflected on her past and revealed that she was an alcoholic and drug addict.

Following a rendition of her song ‘Chandelier,’ along to the radio, the 40-year-old singer revealed that she was an alcoholic and after getting sober she felt that she didn’t want to be an artist anymore, Daily Star reports.

In of her interviews, the singer, who was addicted to Xanax and OxyContin, revealed that she and all her pals were devastated when her first love, Dan Pontifex, died in a car accident.

The ‘Alive’ hit-maker, whose full name is Sia Furler, added, “This triggered a “six-year bender, as she struggled to grieve with Pontifex’s friends in London.

It is being said that the singer even once thought of ending her life, following a drug binge and even thought of penning a suicide note.

However, Sia has got sober with therapies and is now successful in both singing and songwriting and is married to documentary maker Erik Anders Lang. (ANI)
