Sisodia calls teachers the strongest pillars of society

New Delhi, Sep 5 (IANS) Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday felicitated teachers from government and private schools on the occasion of Teachers’ Day and said that teachers are the strongest pillars of society and should be encouraged towards leadership.

“They carry the great responsibility of grooming and educating a whole new generation. We are honoring those who shape the future of the country,” Sisodia said at an event to mark Dehli State Teachers Award, 2016, at Thyagaraj Sports Complex.

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day the Delhi government felicitated 91 teachers from private and government schools across the city.

While addressing the gathering, Sisodia said that stars in sports, cinema, and other fields are felicitated at grand ceremonies whereas teachers were the ones who make them stars.

“The invaluable contributions of teachers must be awarded and celebrated in the best way possible, and our government is committed to establishing an environment where teachers are the most important stakeholders in our education system,” Sisodia added.

Several dance and music performances by students of government schools were presented during the event.
