Sooner Pak shuns terror faster relations will progress: MEA

New Delhi, Oct. 30 (ANI): The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday urged Pakistan to using stop using terrorism as an instrument of state policy, saying that the sooner Islamabad shuns using terrorism the faster the relations between two countries would improve.

“Pakistan must stop using terrorism as an instrument of state policy. The sooner Pakistan realises this the faster the relations between India and Pakistan can progress.” MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said at a press conference when asked about former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf’s recent remark admitting their role n nurturing terrorists.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, today downplayed Musharraf’s assertion that Islamabad nurtured terrorism and said that one should not be stuck in the past.

Musharraf had earlier admitted that Pakistan nurtured militancy and supported extremist groups including the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the 1990s to carry out terrorist activities in Kashmir.

Musharraf also branded Osama Bin Laden, Jalaluddin Haqqani, Hafiz Saeed and Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi as Pakistan’s heroes. (ANI)
