Dhaka, July 12 (ANI): Bangladesh produced an all-round performance on Sunday to comprehensively beat South Africa by seven wickets in the second one-day international and thereby level the three-match series at Dhaka.
Opting to bat first, South African batsmen struggled against the hosts’ disciplined bowling performance as they were bundled out for 162 in the 46th over.
Young speedster Mustafizur Rahman and off-break spinner Nasir Hossain exposed South Africa’s batting frailties as both claimed three wickets each, while receiving substantial support from pace man Rubel Hossain, who returned figures of 2-34.
Faf Du Plessis was the top scorer with scoring 41 runs before falling prey to a delivery by Nasir.
In reply, Bangladesh dealt a shaky start after Kagiso Rabada removed Tamim Iqbal (5) and Litton Das (17) in quick succession.
However, the hosts steadily recovered from a shaky start as Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah shared a rock-solid 135-run partnership for the third wicket to steer home to the victory.
Soumya smacked an unbeaten 88, including 13 fours and one six.
With the win, Bangladesh have secured their Champions Trophy spot and will take on the tourists in the decider on Wednesday. (ANI)
