Madrid, Oct 20 (IANS) A 22-year-old Spanish woman was arrested on Tuesday in capital Madrid for alleged links to the Islamic State (IS) terror group.
Interior ministry officials said the young woman was arrested by the Civil Guard at Barajas airport in Madrid while on her way to Turkey, through which she was going to Syria to join the IS, EFE news reported.
She had recently converted to Islam and believed to have maintained contact with radicals over the internet, the officials added.
On October 4, two men and two women were arrested for allegedly recruiting women to fight with the IS.
Spanish Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz said that 156 people have been arrested in the last four years due to links to jihadi groups.
