States begin distribution of pulses at lower rates

New Delhi, Oct. 27 (ANI): The states have started distribution of pulses, especially Tur dal, at reasonable prices.

Consumer Affairs and Food Ministry in a release said that in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Tur dal is being distributed at Rs. 50 per kg for the BPL and Antyoday Anya Yojna (AAY) families. While in Tamil Nadu, Urad dal and Canadian Lentils are being distributed at Rs. 30 per kg for all.

In Haryana, two and a half kg Chana is being provided for BPL and AAY under the Dal Roti scheme. The Haryana Government has also directed HAFED to procure pulses from the market and sell them at Rs. 50 per kg through its sale counters.

In Himachal, chana and masoor are being sold at Rs. 50 per kg through the PDS outlets.

The Central Government had earlier asked the states to have meeting with millers, wholesalers and retailers in their area to make pulses available in retail markets at reasonable prices. (ANI)
