Sting operation a ‘vendetta campaign’ against TMC: O’ Brien

Kolkata, Mar. 14 (ANI): Terming the sting operation carried out by a news website ‘vendetta campaign’ against Trinamool Congress, party’s national spokesperson Derek O’ Brien on Monday said the opposition cannot find any political means to fight us, so they are resorting to sting operations.

“We are too busy in the elections and the opposition cannot find any political way to fight so they do things like stings operation. In today’s time videos are doctored. The people of Bengal know the credibility of TMC and Mamata Banerjee. This is a vendetta campaign against us,” Brien told ANI here.

O’ Brien, who was reportedly also seen the video, said, “All I want to say to our political opponents that if you want to fight us then fight us politically. Don’t try your stunts with dirty tricks. The TMC’s credentials are clear – who gave whom and where,” he added.

Echoing similar sentiments former union railway minister Mukul Roy said it is a conspiracy against the Trinamool.

“We are going to file a legal case against those who published it,” he added.

The sting operation conducted the news website was triggered by the allegations of Sarada chit fund scam against some senior leaders of the TMC. The operation started before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. (ANI)
