Stop giving Ballabhgarh incident ‘political colour’, says Khattar

Rohatak (Haryana), Oct. 21 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister M. L. Khattar on Wednesday asked the political parties to refrain from giving the Ballabhgarh immolation incident a political colour, adding that it should not be looked through the prism of caste politics.

“This incident was an outcome of an old rivalry. Last year, we had provided police protection to them as well. I have suspended seven officers in this connection,” said Khattar.

“Haryana is a peaceful state, and I appeal to all political parties to help maintain peace in the state,” he added.

Two children were charred to death and their parents injured after their house was set afire allegedly by some members of Rajput community at Sunpedh village in Ballabhgarh. The mother of the victims is battling for her life at a hospital.

Stating that a proper investigation into the incident should be done, the Chief Minister said the Haryana Government has handed over the case to the CBI.

“We have provided a financial assistance of Rs.10 lakhs to the family, and a job will also be given to a family member,” said Khattar.

Earlier, Khattar had postponed his visit to Sunpedh, a village in Faridabad, to meet the bereaved family members.

Meanwhile, Congress leader P.C. Chacko said the incident was a miserable failure of law and order situation and the government machinery in Haryana.

“Khattar has no moral authority responsibility to continue as the Chief Minister of Haryana,” he said, demanding his removal. (ANI)
