Students need to take part in development of rural India: Smriti Irani

Jirania (Tripura), Sept.18 (ANI): Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani on Friday presided over a meeting of higher education ministers of the north-east region at National Institute of Technology, Agartala, where she insisted that national level institutes must adopt villages and educate its residents.

Irani stressed on the need for students to come forward for the development of country, especially the rural areas.

“My request to each institute head is that all the students, who get involved in Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, must be awarded credits for their work done so that their entire class work is enhanced by the social impact and outcome of this particular programme,” said Irani.

The HRD Minister also inspected various facilities in the institute including the labs, hostels and dining hall. She also interacted with the students and enquired about their problems.

She also participated in the Ganesha Puja organised by the students. (ANI)
