Johannesburg, Feb.29 (ANI): Goalkeeper Willy Caballero produced an inspired performance as Manchester City outwitted Liverpool 3-1 in penalties to lift the League Cup at Wembley Stadium.
Following a 1-1 draw at half-time, the Argentine international made three penalty saves before veteran midfielder Yaya Toure netted the decisive penalty to give City victory, Sport24 reported.
Earlier, Fernandinho had put City ahead in the second half before Philippe Coutinho restored parity for Liverpool in the 83rd minute.
This was City’s second League Cup victory in three seasons.
With the win, City ensured that outgoing manager Manuel Pellegrini will end his stint with at the Etihad Stadium with at least one trophy. (ANI)
