Investigators from the Peel Regional Police 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged a 16 year-old male in relation to a shooting incident in Brampton.
On Thursday May 12, 2016, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the victim was walking along a pathway near Williams Parkway and Main Street in Brampton. At this time, a male suspect, riding a bicycle, approached the victim and fired a shot from a handgun at the victim. The suspect then fled the area.
The victim, a 32 year-old male from Brampton, was struck by the round and taken to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Monday, May 16, 2016, a 16 year old young person from Brampton was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, and several firearms- related offences. He cannot be named due to the parameters of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.
Investigators from the 22 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have information about this matter, to call them at (905) 453-2121, Ext. 2233.
