New York, Sept. 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that sustainable development is a national responsibility for all countries, adding that international cooperation should be at the core of our efforts for development and climate change.
“When it comes to climate change, our main aim is common but we have different responsibilities. Developed countries must share clean technology, provide financial assistance to developing world to combat climate change and we hope they meet their commitment on climate change,” Prime Minister Modi said at the United Nations Summit for the adoption of Post-2015 Development Agenda.
The Prime Minister quoted the ancient texts to explain India’s environmental ethos, saying ‘Keep pure! For the Earth is our mother! And we are her children!’
“I represent a culture where the earth is considered our mother. India is addressing the problem of climate change as per the goals that have been set and is committed to climate change, but climate justice is also important. We must not become selfish when it comes to dealing with the problem of climate change,” Prime Minister Modi said.
He also emphasised that a global education program needs to be started so that the future generations can learn to form a relationship with nature. (ANI)
