Ramallah, Feb 11 (IANS) Another Palestinian has died of swine flu or the H1N1 influenza virus, taking the toll due to the disease to four this year, the health ministry said on Thursday.
This took the number of deaths in the West Bank from H1N1 to four since the beginning of 2016, while 355 cases have been registered, Xinhua reported.
H1N1 cases were discovered in the West Bank in 2010, when the World Health Organisation said the disease was no longer an epidemic, but rather a seasonal flu.
The ministry’s media director, Tareef Ashour, said a 58 year-old citizen died at Nablus’s public hospital after suffering from breathing problems caused by the virus.
A 40-year-old Palestinian died from the virus on Tuesday, the third case this year.
The ministry provides free treatment for H1N1 and was prepared with the necessary medications, he said.
