Johannesburg, Sept. 9 (ANI): James Taylor slammed his maiden one-day international century as England claimed a 93-run win over Australia in the third ODI to keep the five-match series alive at Old Trafford.
The hosts set a challenging 301-run target for Australia after opting to bat first, courtesy Taylor’s 101 and quick-fire knocks by Eoin Morgan (62) and opener Jason Roy (63).
In reply, world champions Australia struggled against the opponents’ disciplined bowling and were eventually dismissed for 207 with six overs of their innings left, with Aaron Finch making top score of 53.
Off-spinner Moeen Ali and fast bowler Liam Plunkett were the pick of bowlers as both claimed three wickets each, with Ali’s three for 32 in his full 10 overs the all-rounder’s best ODI figures.
Meanwhile, Adil Rashid and Steven Finn provided substantial support to their bowling attack by sharing four wickets between them.
Man-of-the-match Taylor said that he had earlier got 98 not out against Australia and, therefore, getting a hundred against them in a winning cause was nice, Sport24 reported.
Australia still lead the series 2-1, with the fourth ODI to be played on Friday at Leeds. (ANI)
