After a delay that raised many eyebrows, an 18-year-old from Orillia has been charged in a crash that killed Khushboo Dogra, 31, and her two-year-old son, Prakrit. Sanket Dogra, the 33-year-old father is still in hospitals with critical injuries.
Evan Campbell has been charged with two counts of criminal negligence causing death and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
Family members said it was not uncommon for the family to go on late-night drives to help their young son sleep, although it’s not immediately known if that was the case here.
Campbell isn’t facing impaired driving charges, although police had said publicly that investigators were looking at that as a possible factor.
He was also hospitalized with serious injuries after the crash but released from hospital a few days later.
Media reports say Sanket came here a few years ago as part of his job working for a tech firm in India. Last year he sponsored his family and settled in Mississauga, not far from the crash scene.
Campbell will be in Brampton court for a bail hearing Wednesday (Nov. 28).
