Thai journalists on trial for allegedly defaming navy

London, July 14 (ANI): Two journalists in southern Thai island of Phuket are on trial for allegedly defaming the Thai navy.

According to BBC, their charges started from a July 2013 online article which included a paragraph on human trafficking.

The article quoted an unnamed smuggler that Thai naval forces made money from turning a blind eye to trafficking.

The trial opened with a navy captain testifying he filed the defamation case on behalf of the navy, a lawyer representing the journalists said. (ANI)
