MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is doing well at the box office.
The film has become the second highest opener of 2016 and has also collected Rs 66 crores in its opening weekend. The total collection of the film by day four of its release stands at Rs 74.51 crore.
But there was a drop in the film’s collection on Monday. The question now is whether the film is able to stay strong and will the film be able to enter the much coveted Rs 100 crore club in Bollywood.
According to reports, the film has become the third highest Bollywood film to gross $1 million on the weekend after Sultan and Fan. The surprising fact is unlike Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, who acted in Sultan and Fan respectively, the main actor of Dhoni biopic, Sushant Singh Rajput, is a relatively unknown actor.
The film features just three films old actor Sushant playing the part of MS Dhoni. Media services company Prime Focus delivered Digital Intermediate (DI) services for the biopic and thus recreated the footage where India’s star skipper played the milestone matches seamlessly, inserting actor Sushant Singh Rajput into the scenes to ensure the continuity of the narrative.
However, the experts who worked VFX and DI in the film said that it was a pretty difficult task to do the same. They also shared that the main challenges were to understand these sensitivities and deliver the sequences accordingly.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s role is receiving much praise in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. The actor will next be seen in producer-turned-director Dinesh Vijan’s Raabta, where he stars opposite Dilwale actor Kriti Sanon.
