Three Indians face jail term in Singapore

Singapore, Oct 20 (IANS) Three Indians here face jail terms up to 15 years after being charged with causing grievous hurt in connection with the death of a compatriot last year, a media report said on Tuesday.

Karthikeyan Prabakaran, Thiruppathi Veerapperumal and Chellappan Sankar — all in their late 20s — allegedly grievously hurt technician Murugaiya Suresh Kumar near Pandan Loop on August 23 last year, the Straits Times reported citing the charge sheet.

Following the arrests, the Indian nationals were charged with murder which was later amended to causing grievous hurt.

They allegedly hit the 26-year-old employee of Poly NDT on the head with iron rods multiple times together with Ananthan Seeralan, 25, who is on the run.

Responding to a call of assistance, police arrived at the site to find the victim lying motionless on the ground. The paramedics who arrived later pronounced the man dead at the scene.
