Tokyo shares open higher

Tokyo, Nov 27 (IANS) — shares opened the trading Friday slightly higher without any clear trading cues as the US stocks markets were closed for a holiday and Japan’s consumer prices report was within market expectations.

At 9.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 31.43 points, or 0.16 percent, from Thursday to 19,975.84, Xinhua news agency reported.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange inched up 0.90 point, or 0.06 percent, to 1,603.22.
