Tokyo stocks drop

Tokyo, Nov 16 (IANS) Tokyo stocks dropped on Monday as investor sentiment was soured by data showing that Japan’s economy had entered a technical recession following two successive quarters of contraction, with the market mood further dampened after terror attacks in Paris.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 189.84 points (0.97 percent) from Friday to end the morning at 19,407.07, Xinhua reported.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 13.03 points (0.82 percent) at 1,572.80.

Notable decliners at the morning break comprised the air transport, transportation equipment and miscellaneous products-related stocks.
