New Delhi, Apr. 2 (ANI): A day after the BJP staged a walkout in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly alleging that the incumbent government lost the ground to stay in power, the Congress Party on Saturday criticised the Centre for toppling the elected governments in Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, adding that entire episode has united the grand-old-party.

“I don’t have any doubt that the Congress Party in Himachal Pradesh stands united. The attempts of toppling the chosen governments in Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand by the BJP and the Centre made our party more united,” Congress general secretary in-charge of Himachal Ambika Soni said after meeting state leaders.

“We have planned to protest in coming few days. I along with Raja Rampal, who is the secretary, called a meeting to strategise as to how we can vent the anger against this move of the government,” she said.

She further said that it is not just to save the Congress Party governments in the state, it is a threat for democracy, as there has been a complete violation of the Constitution in toppling the elected state governments.

The main Opposition BJP, had yesterday staged another walkout in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, alleging that the incumbent Congress government has “technically lost the ground” to stay in power as the House had accepted the cut motion on the budgetary grant of the Health Department in a voice vote a day before.

While leader of the Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal said the government had lost the right to rule “on moral grounds”, State Health Minister and senior Congress leader Kaul Singh Thakur responded to the repeated walkouts by BJP members, asserting that the Congress party was “totally united” under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
