London, June 30 (ANI): Star players Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer eased through the second round of the Wimbledon Championships after securing straight-set wins in their respective opening matches.
Second seed Federer took just 67 minutes to defeat debutant Damir Dzumhur 6-1 6-3 6-4, while 10th seed Nadal needed a little longer against Thomaz Bellucci on Court One, but his 6-4 6-2 6-3 victory was still comprehensive.
The Spaniard said that it was a very positive victory, “Straight sets, no bad feelings, good backhands. The forehand needs to be a bit more aggressive”, the BBC reported.
Meanwhile, the 17-time grand slam champion said he was happy with his win as he played aggressively.
In the other match, 13th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga had to toil hard for his win against Gilles Muller, eventually beating him 7-6 (10-8) 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 3-6 6-2. (ANI)
