Toronto man held in alleged drugging, sex assault case

It began as a visit to purchase a cat on Thursday, May 26, but ended up as a sexual assault case.

The Toronto Police Service announced  an arrest in a the investigation, which also involved the alleged administering of a noxious substance.

On Thursday, May 26, 2016, officers responded to a call for a sexual assault in the Yonge Street and Finch Avenue area.

It is alleged that a 26-year-old woman answered an ad on Kijiji for the sale of a cat. She went to an address and met with a man. She agreed to buy the cat and later had some food and drinks with the man.

Soon, she began to feel unwell and was led into his bedroom, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Ghenadie Carpov, 52, of Toronto, was arrested the next day . He is charged with:

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenuce West on Friday, May 27, 2016, 10 a.m., room 301.  Police are concerned there may be other victims..
