New Delhi, June 6 (IANS) Demanding action against Uttar Pradesh minister Shivpal Yadav, who allegedly patronised the head of the sect which had clashed with police in Mathura district last week, the BJP on Monday dismissed the transfer of the district magistrate and senior superintendent of police an eyewash and an attempt to cover up.
“The chief minister’s (Akhilesh Yadav) decision to transfer DM and SSP is an eyewash and an attempt to cover up his government’s sins. If he really wants to act, he must act against his cabinet minister,” BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said at a press conference here.
He also alleged that Ram Vriksh Yadav, the leader of a sect which had encroached on government land, and also died in last week’s violence in which a senior police officer was killed, was patronised by Shivpal Yadav, the brother of ruling Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Sharma also claimed that whatever happened in Mathura was a result of nexus between the encroachers and ruling party.
“There was an attempt to lease out the 280 acres of government land,” he said.
Earlier, District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh were shifted out of Mathura for dereliction in duty during the operations and intelligence failure.
A total of 24 persons, including Superintendent of Police, City, Mukul Dwivedi and Sub-Inspector Santosh Yadav were killed in the clash between cult members who had encroached upon the government park and the police force.
