Trucker charged in 3-truck collision on 401

Brampton, September 11 (CINEWS): Raghbir Gill, a 56-year-old Brampton truck driver has been charged after three tractor trailers collided on Hwy. 401 near Tilbury early Friday morning the OPP report.
Police say it was just after midnight when westbound traffic was at a standstill while a broken down vehicle was removed from the highway. Two tractor trailers were stopped in traffic when, according to police, a third hit the rearhandcuffs (2) of one, sending it into the rear of the other in front.
The drivers of the stopped trucks were not injured, according to police.
The driver Raghbir Gill was charged with careless driving. He suffered minor injuries, according to police, and the truck he was driving sustained major damage.
One of the other two trucks also sustained major damage. The other received only minor damage, according to police.
The highway was closed for cleanup and did not reopen until 6 a.m.
The number of accidents involving trucks seems to be increasing and there are some who believe it is time for the authorities to review the safety measures and driver training.
