PM Justin Trudeau formally announced his nomination at a party event last Sunday in his Montreal riding of Papineau.

Trudeau reaffirmed his belief in what he called “positive politics,” and took jabs at Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer, whom he accused of exploiting fear and division.

The Liberal leader also promised to tackle several challenges that include protecting Canada’s oceans, raising the standard of living for Indigenous Peoples and narrowing the gap between rich and poor.

Trudeau was first elected in 2008 to represent Papineau, a Liberal bastion for 50 years, and was re-elected in 2011 and 2015.

Come fall all parties will get into election mode as the countdown to the 2019 election begins. -CINEWS
