Starting August 2018, TTC riders using the PRESTO card will be able to get on and off transit vehicles multiple times with just one fare within a two-hour window.
Commuters will be able to hop on and off transit vehicles as many times as they need within that time frame. This was passed by the TTC board this week.
The policy is estimated to cost $11.1 million in 2018 based on an implementation in August and a full-year cost of $20.9 million as of 2020.
It is also to add five million more customer trips per year.
The report says the change will help provide quality, flexible and competitive transit service to customers.
The policy will go before city council for consideration in the 2018 budget and is expected to pass given the wide public support for this move. Also given the fact that TTC like many other transit systems in the western world is struggling with stagnant ridership, this will be an incentive for more riders to consider TTC as their primary mode of transport around the city. – CINEWS
