Turkish football body dismisses 94 officials after failed coup

Istanbul, Aug 3 (IANS) The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has announced the dismissal of 94 officials, apparently as part of the measures taken to deter the potential supporters of Fethullah Gulen, who Ankara accuses of masterminding the failed coup attempt on July 15.

TFF said in a brief statement released on its website on Tuesday that the federation decided to cut relations with 94 officials, including local and international referees, assistant referees and observers, in addition to members of the local councils of referees, reports Efe.

The statement did not mention any reasons for the dismissal, but it is known that the Turkish federation has been busy for a week with a process of internal purge to remove any members who could maintain links with Gulen’s network.
