Tel Aviv, Jan 1 (IANS) Two people were killed and at least seven others injured on Friday in an apparent shooting attack at a pub in Israel’s capital city Tel Aviv.

A suspect apparently opened fire at people in a bar, but the motive was still unclear, police spokeswoman Luba Samri said in a statement.

According to sources, two of the injured were in serious condition and three were stated to be out of danger, Haaretz daily reported.

Police detained a suspect near the site of the shooting, after the shooter fled the scene of the attack, but were continuing to search the area.

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai said that at this stage the municipality had “no special instructions” and asked the public to enable the security services to do their work.
